We receive many individual requests to visit the Department of Occupational Therapy and to meet with the Graduate Admissions Chair or another faculty member on the Graduate Admissions Committee. It is difficult to accommodate all of these individual requests. For this reason we have scheduled monthly information sessions for prospective applicants to the Entry-Level OTD Program. These sessions occur on the third Friday of each month from 1:00-2:45 pm year round. These sessions are designed so you can find out about the EL-OTD program and about the admission process. The session includes a presentation about the program, information about the admission process, a question and answer period, and a tour of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Faculty members lead the information sessions. Current students in the program conduct the tours and provide prospective students with an opportunity to ask questions about the program.
Reservations are not required to attend any of these Friday afternoon sessions.
We have attempted to compile a list of many of the questions that are routinely asked by prospective applicants, and they are provided in the FAQs section on this website. Please review the FAQs before emailing or calling.
Many of the specific questions that applicants have can be handled by email or telephone and do not require an individual face-to-face meeting. If you do have a specific question that does require scheduling an individual meeting, we prefer that you call or email in advance to schedule it either before or after the Friday Information Session that you are planning to attend. You can request a meeting by sending an email with the subject line “Request Meeting” to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the OT Department at (804) 828-2219.
In order to better accommodate those who may be considering OT as a second career, and for those potential applicants who work during the day, and have trouble attending one of our Friday afternoon Information Sessions, we offer one evening session on the first Wednesday of October each year. If you are interested in attending this Wednesday evening session, please RSVP to email@example.com
All information sessions are held in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Room 2-074 on the 2nd floor of the Theater Row Building, located at 730 E. Broad Street on the corner of 8th Street and East Broad Street. Theater Row is located in the same block as The National Theater. A map of the MCV Campus can be found here. When you enter the lobby notify the security guard that you are attending the OT Information Session. Parking lots are available on the corner of 7th Street and Marshall Streets, at the Coliseum deck on 7th Street and Clay Street or at parking meters in the vicinity.
