The American Physical Therapy Association launched a physical therapy centralized application service (PTCAS) in the summer of 2008 in an effort to better accommodate prospective physical therapy applicants. The VCU Department of Physical Therapy participates in this common application service. Therefore, all students interested in applying to VCU's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program will submit their application materials directly to PTCAS.
Applicants who apply through PTCAS will submit a completed Web-based application comprised of biographical data, colleges and universities attended, academic course history, physical therapy observation hours, list of reference providers, work experience, extracurricular activities, honors, professional licenses and a personal essay. It is the applicant's responsibility to read and follow all PTCAS and program-specific instructions.
In addition, students must submit supplemental materials for their application to be complete. All materials, including the supplemental application must be submitted through PTCAS.
A VCU supplemental application fee of $50 must be submitted here.
Our application deadline is usually at the beginning of October each year. Please see the PTCAS website for the exact deadline date. The VCU Department of Physical Therapy also participates in the Early Decision process on PTCAS. Please refer to the PTCAS website for details and deadlines. All materials (including transcripts and GRE scores) must be received by the deadline to be considered for Early Decision.
